The happniess could be seen all around when the batton reached the state of five rivers i,e. Punjab. After seeing this no one could ever beleive that this is the starting of the countdown of commonwealth games which are going to take place in India.
When the Batton reached Punjab then the common man also felt pride by touching and feeling it.They were all feeling like they are also a part of the mega sports events that are going to take place and in which the people from all over the country take place..
On 25 June 2010 the Baton reached punjab through the Bagah Border after completing the international distance of 170, 000 kilometers. This happened through a spectacular ceremony that took place. After Amritsar the Batton left for Jallandhar. In Jalandhar it was first welcomed by Hans Raj Maha Vidalya Jallandhar and then followed by senior officers of CRPF and a battalion of ITBP. Punjab Armed Police, Maharaja Ranjit Singh academy and Rama Mandi. All were present to greet the Batton.
When the Baton halted at Punjab Agricultural Unviersity(Ludhiana) then Ms. Alka Lamba along with baton crew planted medicial plants along with . In Ludhiana, the baton visited Bharat Nagar Chowk.
After Ludhiana the next destination for Baton was Patiala, where it was received by the famous cricketer and Commentator, Mr. Navjot Singh Siddhu.The city had organized a relay where around 20 Arjun Awardees participated. The relay ended at NIS (National Institute Sports) of Patiala from where the baton was joined by the community of Patiala who then had a cultural show after the dinner.
The next day the Baton reached Pathankot from where it will be headed towards the Kashmir Valley via Jammu.

The nineteenth Common wealth games
The commonwealth games that will be organized in 2010 this year in india will be the nineteenth common wealth games. These games will be held in 3 October and 14 October 2010 in Delhi ...the capital of india. It is a matter of pride and honour that India has got a chance to host such a prestigious sports and the sportsman from all over the world will participate in these games.
This is the first time that india will be organizing commonwealth while second time in Asia. Before this Malaysia was the first Asian country where these games were organized in Kuala Lumpur in 1998.
The other bidder country who was in competition with india was Canada. For this bidding to take place a ballet of members were gathered in 2003 Jamaica where Delhi won it by a margin of 46 votes to 22. But for this it had to make other effort also as it had to make promise that Delhi would provide $ 100,000 to each participating country and not only that also the to and fro air tickets, its boarding, lodging and transport fares too.
